Let me tell you about a thing that I’ve been super interested in lately. First and foremost though, some background knowledge about me. I’m not necessarily the most passionate about certain things, meaning I don’t have that many hobbies. For a lot of people their hobby is reading or drawing or maybe even exercise. Me? I just seem to kind of coast through life not really being pulled in by any kind of leisure activity in particular.
That being said, when I get into something. I get in to something. No force on this green earth can stop me from consuming the one thing that I have become obsessed with. Now, don’t be too afraid. It’s only a hardcore obsession for like, a week or two. And then it kind of fades away. I still have the ability to do things like homework and work obviously. For some odd reason I somehow have the ability to separate time I need to work and accomplish things from the time I spend on my latest obsession. (I guess that makes me an adult?)
An example of my “obsessive,” nature. Over my christmas break I casually started to watch the first Season of Friends. Know what season I’m on now? 9. It’s been like 2 weeks.
I’ve since moved on to my latest obsession, the Jenna and Julien Podcast. For those who have been living under a rock, Jenna Mourey is an Internet Queen© and has been for a good number of years. For a lot of people out there, (or maybe just people around my age), she was the lady who got them into YouTube, a video sharing platform that, again, if you haven’t been living under a rock, is extremely popular.
Her podcast is basically what a lot of podcasts out there are, just her and her boyfriend (Julien Solomita, also a great YouTuber), have conversations regarding whatever topic they choose. You can find the audio for the podcast on SoundCloud, but you can also find the podcast in video form on YouTube.
The podcast that started my newest obsession was episode #169. The one where they talk about Logan Paul and the incident that, again for you rock people, have thrown a lot of influencers across multiple platforms through a loop. That episode in particular is about an hour and a half long, but ever since finding it a few days ago I’ve watched it at least 5 times. What I admire about this video in particular were Jenna and Julien’s courage to speak out with complete and utter honesty their opinions on the issues Logan Paul faces and has brought many others to face. Without getting too heated, the pair were able to convey their thoughts and opinions and were able to educate their audience on issues brought up by the incident and inform people on how they should now deal with them. Their suggestions on how we as a society should take steps forward, by speaking about what we consume and talking to the younger generation about their right to be able to speak about what they consume, were just amazing.
I’ve watched and listened to a number of other podcasts by the pair and for the majority they convey the same amount of professionalism throughout every one of them. True some are silly and wacky or what have you, but it’s evident in the more serious moments just how well informed they are when it comes to what they’re discussing.
I’ve always been a fan of Jenna Mourey, she’s a strong and sweet lady who obviously has nothing but respect for those around her, be they furry little animals or regular old humans. As a person who’s extremely interested in investing her time to the Internet, it’s extremely admirable to watch her lead by example how you can do so too, but remain a person and a human being at the same time.
